Carrie M. Talesfore, Ph.D.

Compassionate, evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults.

Specialized Care for Young Minds

Eating Disorders

Comprehensive and evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, focusing on restoring healthy relationships with food and body. I work with individuals presenting with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and other eating, shape, weight, and body image  challenges. I have specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for eating disorders. I collaborate and consult with family and other professionals (e.g., physicians, dieticians) to ensure that care is consistent amongst the team of providers. My priority is the health and safety of clients across psychological and medical domains.

Mood, Anxiety, & Other Disorders

Supportive therapy for children to young adults experiencing mood, anxiety and other disorders, helping to navigate emotional challenges with resilience and calm. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety (e.g., phobias, generalized anxiety), OCD, and other social/emotional difficulties. I utilize evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients develop skills that not only address their current difficulties, but that can be applied to future challenges that life presents.

Family and Professional Support

Guidance for parents, caregivers, and significant others on navigating complex mental health challenges, fostering a collaborative environment for lasting wellness. Although therapy is often intended to address a specific individual's concerns, multiple others are involved in and impacted by the challenges that the individual faces. I believe that consulting with and supporting those significant others can improve functioning for the client  as well as those invested in their wellbeing. However, my priority is always in the best interest of the client, and all consultations are done with proper consent.

About

Carrie M. Talesfore, Ph.D.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults facing a range of mental and behavioral health concerns. I earned my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaii with specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and the treatment of eating disorders. I completed my predoctoral internship at USC/Children's Hospital Los Angeles and my postdoctoral fellowship at the May Institute Pediatric Speciality Center as well as in private practice supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist.

I am dedicated to providing evidence-based interventions, tailored to the unique needs of each client. In my view, therapy is a collaborative endeavor designed to enhance wellbeing, and I am dedicated to working towards this through all possible efforts. I consider therapy to be a success when clients learn skills that they can independently utilize in the “real world” when current and future challenges present. In other words, the best therapy is that which is no longer needed.
